What is Rock Steady Boxing?

Rock Steady Boxing is a non contact boxing inspired fitness program designed specifically for people with Parkinson’s. It was founded in 2006 in Indianapolis and has become a world leader in providing an effective form of forced intense exercise helping Parkinson’s symptoms.

Continued studies have proven that forced intense exercises are nero-protective and actually work to delay the progress of Parkinson’s symptoms. And that’s where boxing comes in!!

What can you expect in a Rock Steady Boxing class?

Our class focus is overall fitness. Some of the areas we work on are improving strength and power, balance, agility, posture, coordination, reaction time, endurance, mental focus and flexibility. This includes working at your own level punching on heavy bags, focus pads, speed bags and body opponent bags. We work hard, have fun and build new friendships and camaraderie.

During the last 4 years of coaching our boxers I have watched how Parkinson’s symptoms have dramatically improved as well as overall fitness levels, social interaction and sense of well being and confidence to fight back against Parkinson’s.

New boxers are instructed on boxing techniques through one on one introductory session before beginning regular Rock Steady Boxing classes.

Come and try a class and let’s punch Parkinson’s to the curb.
